Let me have that white one actually. I'll SRT4 swap it, and throw an SRT badge on in it somewhere, along with a 944 turbo badge....

Then I'll really black out the windows, and get some kind of storm trooper look out of it.

Were you able to find out about SRT4 swaps for the 944?

Nothing so far. That said, a friend of mine who's in the process of building a 1939 Caddy limo with the "i shit you not" HP number in the ballpark of 600-1000HP said that SRT4 engines make for great swaps because of their size and low weight (I DD a regular Neon, so I can attest for how easy they are to work on in the correct orientation; which is outside the car).

There's plenty of shops that can make me a custom bellhousing to connect to the driveshaft, so I can keep the rear mounted transaxle of a 944 Turbo in the car without too much modification. Just a couple motor mounts and there's no reason it shouldn't slide right in.

I've seen built SRT4 engines good for 450+HP, so I'm sure I can make the thing stupid fast with enough money thrown at it.

They already make ls swap kits so you don't have to worry about a built motor or custom anything. 450hp pretty much out of the box.

Gonna sell mine. Can't really afford to maintain or insure a german sports car right now. Even the plebian ones are off limits. :(

The whole point is to not LS swap the car. I would rather something a bit more unique than an LS. A 2.4 turbo is a nice starting point, especially because the maintenance would be super simple on it.

Wow! That SRT4 swap sounds as godly as an LSx swap, except with presumably better fuel economy. :P

If I had to swap the motor, I'd go for an S2 or 968 block motor to stay Porsche, or try my luck at a Ford 302.

302 engines can make stupid power if massaged the right way, and the crate motors are small enough to go into all sorts of places.

SRT4 motors have to be totally rebuilt to make the power, but can be done so with decent budgets. Their weak point is the timing belt, being an interference engine. Another weak point are the spark plug tube O Rings. Beyond that, the engines can handle some decent boost to make some serious power for a 4 banger, while being reliable. Plenty of E85 conversions too if you dont mind smelling like a fast food deep frier.

My friend is dumping a 454 into the caddy limo, and is thinking about a compressed air supercharger setup like from the 60s. Its a complete show car, so full reliability isnt important at all really, just has to look unsuspecting and strange.
